There are apps that will let you lock people out of the system, but the hard drive can't be stopped from writing unless it is suspended or in hibernation, or the system would crash. There is a program called "screenlock" at www.igen.com that can be set to lock intruders out, and that is just one of many. Do a Google search for security programs and you'll find dozens.
