I don't use WinDVD, but try checking it's preferences for screen playback (4:3 or 16:9). Wide screen is the latter and will have a rectangular display (w/ borders); with 4:3 it'll "fill" your screen but you'll probably lose some of the image as it was originally framed. You might also want to check the DVD menu itself for playback options. Hope this helps. BTW, it's been quite some time since I've heard/saw the phrase "hire" as in rent.

Subject: [PCBUILD] dvd on a computer & windvd 2000

  Hi,

  I have a IBM Aptiva machine, Pentium 3 450 mhz, 128
mbram. I have an 12 speed Artec pc dvd on the IBM, and
when I view dvd on the IBM I use windvd 2000.
Sometimes I hire dvds that are only wide screen, and I
am not able to view them as full screen on my monitor,
  a CTX 17 inch screen.
Is there a software which I am able to use to view
wide screen dvd as full screen on my monitor?

Or do I have to change my monitor?
