A program was on last night on the history channel that went through the
development of cattle ranching which they said has been around
approximately 6,000 years. The program went on to describe the practices of
modern raising of cattle all the way through from the fattening process to
slaughter. I am glad I am not cow.
Of course grain is not very digestible to the cattle so the ranchers give
the cattle bicarbonate soda for indigestion. They said that half of all
antacids produced in this country are consumed by cattle.
