I have heard on the list many times that Tums are not GF. I also note that
the new Stokes Pharmacy's "Guide Through the Medicine Cabinet" says that
Tums has both gluten and lactose in it.

Tums have never bothered me, so I phoned and emailed Tums for their word on
this. Both replies, from two different people there said that Tums may have
a touch of trace gluten in them. And the flavored Tums have a chemical in
them that is similar to milk, but no actual milk or lactose in them. They
recommended that, to be on the safe side, if someone has a "life
threatening" allergy to milk they might want to avoid the flavored Tums.

So the white Tums have no lactose, and may have a touch of trace gluten in
them. Now you can each make up your own mind about this.

When I investigated for antacids that Stokes lists as GF and lactose free,
only about four were available, and they had aluminum in them, which I
avoid due to some possible (but unproven) problem with memory in older
people, but I've forgotten the word for it :) -vance
