Chris:

In preparation for the 9th International Symposium on Celiac Disease in
Baltimore I attempted to contact the McDonalds Corp. on behalf of the
Center For
Celiac Research, I started about 15 months prior to the August, 2000 date for
the meeting.

My purpose was to have them "roll out" a gluten-free offering - as has been
done
in the Scandinavian countries for several years now - to our International
gathering. Offering samples to the hundreds in attendance and using it as a
"press opportunity" for the announcement of this major public service.

Suggesting to them that they would not have to start from scratch, just have
U.S. bakers use the already existing recipe.

I even suggested that it not necessarily be put in all stores, but just a
sampling of company owned stores in select markets.

After 9 months of being bounced around, ignored and/or passed off to someone
else, I was given the final word. Their quality control people were aware
of the
gluten-free bread product in Finland, etc., but the quality of that product
does
not meet American quality standards.

After expressing the fact that the comparable quality was not an issue to
those
of us on the GF diet. Just make GF product available to Celiac kids, young and
old, in America.

A few days later I too received the same form letter as you.

I personally try not to spend my money at McD's.
