Listmates:

My apologies for not being able to respond sooner. I queried the list
about a week ago regarding my difficulty with high oxalate foods, asking
if anyone else had the same problem and/or a solution.

One writer referred me to the Vulvar Pain Foundation, (reduced oxalates
are effective in contoling vulvar pain) and suggested I find someone who
can help me with nutritional requirements.

One suggested eliminating dairy products

Two writers suggested trying Dr. Paul St. Amands approach for
fibromyalgia using guaifenesin.

One writer has the same problem, and went into detail about taking
calcium supplements to bind the oxalates (which I have done). She
intends to post her findings to this list in the near future.

One mentioned the candida yeast link to this type difficulty (I'm being
treated for that now).

One went into detail regarding the problems with mercury amalgum dental
fillings.

One reported that her similar pain was helped by the GF diet and another
suggested hormonal imbalance could play a part.

My first symptoms were bladder pain, resulting in the diagnosis of
Interstitial Cystitis. I became aware of the oxalate link when muscle
pain, especially in hips and legs became such a problem. Avoiding high
oxalate foods has greatly reduced my pain. Next was the diagnosis of
fibromyalgia, and during the last 5 years, I have become more and more
allergic, leading me to the gluten free diet. Igg and Iga, reticulen
tests were elevated, but not enough to receive the celiac diagnosis.
I've put myself on GF diet, because drs. are uncooperative.

Recently I have started treatment with a metabolic nutritionist, to get
my body back in sync. My feeling is these ailments have originated with
my stomach, and if I can just get that healed, the other things will
follow. I did follow the guaifenesin approach faithfully for 1 1/2
years, but these two approaches are not compatible. If the desired
success does not come about, I will return to that approach, for I did
see some improvement, although it was extremely slow.

I appreciate each comment, and continue my search for pain free living.
This list is such a help! I learn from you all daily.

Joyce
