I'm having an odd problem with Scandskw.exe in
Windows ME. Other than that file, are there any
others that might need replacing that would make
a scan of the slave HD "freeze"?

Misc. Background info:
Drive is new, 30G, totally blank. BIOS supports drive
in LBA. Burning in and testing turned up this "odd" problem.
I can make the "freeze point(s)" move by changing
partition sizes or partitioning software.
Control-Alt-Del + Cancel (up to three times) will
normally re-start the scan at the same spot.
Error: Scandisk Not Responding.
Symptoms: Clock stops moving, system unresponsive.
Through multiple installations, HD tests, and
troubleshooting I have isolated this to a "particular
installation" of the OS. A new installation of the
same OS on a different master drive in the same
system will give the slave a "clean bill of health..."
(Also, Win95b scandisk-w and Norton DiskDoctor
2001 in a different system says the same thing.)
All the Maxtor diagnostic utilities find it "perfect".
I even did a "user - low level format".
The OS "C" drive has about 7g on it, so I'd like to
"save" the install if possible...
Thanks in advance.
