I would have a look in device manager/system devices and make sure that the
correct chipset drivers for the USB stuff (and everything else as well) are
actually present rather than some generic driver. Win2k recognized my Via
chipset with the exception of the USB root hub and so forth. A visit to the
Via site for an updated driver solved the problem.

Anyway, my suggestion is to get and load the most current chipset drivers
for your mobo.
