As per your recent enquiry see below:
Part one:
The APRC national assembly candidate selection strategy and
guidelines committee upon an exhaustive deliberation using the party
constitution as a working document has set the undermentioned strategies and
guidelines for selection of APRC candidates in the forthcoming national
assembly elections.
a) The applicant must be 21 years old OR above and should acquire at least
secondary school education.
b) The applicant shouldn't have any criminal records.
c) The applicant must be ordinarily resident of the constituency he or she
is vying for,for a period of at least six months before elections.
d) No applicant can be considered for selection if he or she is a chief or
Alkali.
e)The applicant must possess a valid voter's card and must be registered in
the constituency he or she is vying for.
f) The applicant must be a Gambian citizen and must not hold double
citizenship.
g)The applicant must be a registered/paid up member of the party and shall
make a payment of D5000.00(five thousand dalasis) to the NEC upon selection
by the constituency delegate congress.
h)Each applicant must pay a non refundable application fee of D200.00 (two
hundred dalasis).
i) Each applicant must be a registered member of the party for at least two
years before submitting an application for selection as candidate.
The above mentioned committee recommended the convening of a constituency
delegates congress which shall be the main selection body thus shall
comprise the following members per ward.
Youthwing: 5
Women's wing: 5
council of elders: 5
Constituency executive:5
Chairman/mayor:2
Seyfo: 1
Alkali: 1
Women councillor:1
Reps of groups Affiliated
to the party: 2(mahe &female).
NB:The above is information derived from pamplets that were distributed by
the said committee.Along this same vein, part two and three will follow
suit.These points are not my personal interpretations so any commentaries or
questions on the above will be shared with the committee for possible
amendments or reactions.
Nevertheless,i will be responding or defending some points where and when i
find it necessary or possible to do so.My analysis will be based on the
debates that will be surrounding the above points or information herein,as
far as the NAC selection strategy is concerned.
