Axel--
I have sent my comments to Rob Morrison. I hope others will also. This
issue was brought to the attention of the ACRL DLS committee at the time
of the last guidelines revision but a little too late to be included.
Now is our opportunity to make sure that the Distance Learning
guidelines do highlight the importance of accessibility.

Thanks for alerting the list, and for your work in this area.

Subject: Revision of ACRL's Guidelines for Distance Learning Library
Services

ACRL's "Guidelines for Distance Learning Library Services" are currently
undergoing another revision cycle. The current version does not address
accessibility.

Many libraries model their distance learning policies after the ACRL
guidelines. As long as these guidelines do not incorporate concern for
accessibility for all, chances are that this concern will not be on the
radar screen of those librarians developing respective policies for
their institution.

If you would like to make your voice heard, you have a number of
options:

1. Attend the open hearing at the ALA conference: Saturday, June 25 from
9:30 to 11 am at the Palmer House in room Salon XI, 17 East Monroe
Street, downtown Chicago.

2. Email your input to the DLS Guidelines Committee Chair, Rob Morrison,
at [log in to unmask] or 435-797-1477.

3. Attend the open hearing at ALA Midwinter 2006 or at the Off-Campus
Library Services Conference 2006.
