Use the upgrade. You can do it two ways: Format the hard drive, boot
the XP CD, start setup and be asked to show your Win98 CD as evidence
(OK as long as it is a proper retail disk not one of the proprietary
'restore' ones).
or
Run the XP CD from the existing system, take Install. NExt page
change Upgrade to New install, from which select the current
partition, and format it: by then it will have already made the
eligibility check
