Sounds like the problem I get on one desktop machine, but only
when using a PS/2 mouse. I got rid of the error by switching to
a serial mouse. (This was about a year ago...)
I tried the old time "fix" of loading a mouse driver in DOS during boot,
but after about three weeks, the computer was halting due to a protection
error during boot... (Invalid configuration, if I remember correctly.)
It could be there is something about your mouse that has changed,
(or Windows suddenly does not like), or the interface is going.
I assume you have tried different mice and different types. Good luck.
Go into Safe Mode and delete all your mice.
