Subject: need to flush password from m/b BIOS

I am trying to help a friend set up a used PC which has
some problems. One problem is that its Award BIOS is password
protected. Would removing and replacing the m/b battery
reset the BIOS to default and flush the password?

Thanks in advance for your help.
