Hi folks,
I've been into computers since about 1987. Right around the border line of
the old MFM 40 gig drives. : )
Most of my pc experience has been with IDE devices, and as IDE is catching
up in speed to SCSI and even Apple has converted to IDE, I tend to not run
across too many SCSI drives.
My question is about drive noise. It seems to me that alot of SCSI drives
lately that I have run across are noisy. They don't have the whisper quiet
that IDE drives have. I'm not necessarily refering to motor noise or whine,
but rather a tapping sound that emits from them occasionally. Not like the
bad noise of a head slapping, but just a gentle tap-tap every once in while.
More so in a few Seagates I've seen. Seems annoying but maybe normal?
Anyone run across similar patterns, or am I just getting noisy drives?
Thanks for clarifying.
Dan
