Sure, right-click on "My computer" and click properties.  Right there it
will say the version of Win 98.  If it says 4.10.1998 it is Win 98, and I
can't remember the code for Win 98 SE, but it ends in .2222.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, the first response had a link
questioning the validity of the VXD file fix so I'll have to take that into
consideration, maybe disable fast shutdown is the way to go. Also I am not
sure if I am using Windows 98 second edition or not, is there a way to tell?
