Being DH, I'm not too familiar with the other side of celiac. Some good
people I know are having a serious problem with their 12-yr.-old son. He
has been gaining much weight (60 lb. just this past year) and having typical
celiac symptoms I've heard many of you describe. They took their son to a
gastro specialist in Boston who examined him and provided some tests. They
asked about celiac, and he was surprised they knew what it was. He's an
Italian who apparently is well acquainted with it and said he looked at the
villi and saw no damage. They are now scheduled with another specialist
elsewhere, but not until next month. My question: Does anyone know of a
situation where symptoms were severe, there was no evidence of villi damage,
and yet celiac was eventually confirmed? Would you advise they have him go
GF in the meantime? What would you do? I'll report your answers. --Ron
