This is the first bank branch to open in 30 years in this community.  The
new branch is opening with fully accessible atm services to the blind.
U.S. Bank is doing access right.  who says that low income people in big
cities don't need or want atm access?  East L.A. welcomes it.

U.S. Bank Opens Banking Office in Boyle Heights; Residents and Businesses Have
New Banking Option for the First Time in 30 Years

   LOS ANGELES, May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Residents and businesses in Boyle
   Heights have a new banking option with the opening of a U.S. Bank
   branch at 2708 East 1st Street. It is the first time that a commercial
   bank has opened in the community for what local leaders say has been
   more than 30 years. To celebrate the opening, U.S. Bank will make a
   donation to the East Los Angeles Community Corporation.

   Estela Samson, branch manager, leads team of employees who are all are
   bilingual and of Hispanic decent. Samson, whose family name is Zozaya,
   has fond memories of her days in Boyle Heights, spending time with her
   grandfather who worked for 25 years at La Opinion, and working at
   Zozaya's Liquor, which her parents owned until 1985.

   The full-service branch has a voice-guided ATM for the visually
   impaired, a teller window specifically for merchants and Spanish as
   well as English language materials. U.S. Bank is a member of the Boyle
   Heights Chamber of Commerce, and will be sponsoring a variety of
   seminars and community events.

   The bank will be among the sponsors of Feria de los Ninos (The Fair of
   the Children) in Hollenbeck Park, May 19 and 20. Visitors to the U.S.
   Bank booth will receive free pencils and brochures and may complete an
   application for an account or a loan. U.S. Bank is also involved with
   the Salesian Boys and Girls Club and the Mothers of East LA, as well
   as a joint venture with the L.A.N.I. Group and the Boyle Heights
   Chamber of Commerce to refurbish kiosks located at 1st and Soto and
   1st and Chicago.

   Throughout the year, Samson and other U.S. Bank professionals will
   conduct free seminars on a wide range of topics and for all audiences
   from high school students to local businesses and entrepreneurs.
