Mr. Jallow Bojang, it would not be appropriate for me at this stage to pass
judgement on this revelation that Mr. Darboe has abruptly cancelled his trip
to DC. Although like you, I agree that a rep could have been sent. Others
have commented more lucidly on this matter. There is too little public
information to go by. It is better for us to focus on the impending event
and make good use of the time we will be spending together.
Mr. Jassey-Conteh, I do not understand how we can have you represent the UDP
at the event when we have no way of ascertaining if you are the OFFICIAL
representative of the UDP or not. The communique we received did not
indicate that someone would be designated to speak for the UDP party in an
official capacity.
As I indicated before, adequate time WILL be alotted not only for those on
the panel, but ALL participants (attendees and all)!
The willingness of the government to send government officials to
participate in the event is certainly welcomed. It opens possibilities for a
greater dialogue.
