Rayna,
    Childhood pictures (ages 3-4) indicate that my first crutches were quad
canes but if I had a proficient technique for using them it has been lost in
the mists of time. Looking at those pictures now I am amazed that  I wasn't
black and blue all over, a pair of crutches with two handles but eight
legs/feet to trip over seems like a recipe for disaster, particularly when
placed in the hands of a preschooler who was also (at the time) encased in
metal leg braces from waist to feet.
    The preceding paragraph is merely my long winded way of saying I
understand, I empathize and I appreciate the irony of the situation.  Susan
