It is important to mention, however, that the increased death rate was
ONLY found in people who did NOT follow a gluten-free diet; those that
did had death rates comparable to non-celiacs, three years after their
celiac diagnosis. News reports of this study have scared many celiacs
unnecessarily; articles that have been written make it seem as if the
death rate is still high after following the gluten-free diet. It isn't.
In fact, those on a gluten-free diet in the long term actually live
longer than the rest of us!
Happy Thanksgiving!
