Hello all,
Today I was struck by a failure of my mobility training because the
"rolling blackouts" meant that there were no traffic lights. My training
was: wait on the curb till you hear the traffic flowing in the direction I
wished to cross. It works great except when there is no traffic light and
cars are going thru the intersection one at a time, like being at a four
way stop sign. There is no traffic flow to follow and I cannot move across
fast enough to keep up with single cars crossing. I used the old standby:
hold out my white cane, start across and hope like crazy the drivers see me
and know what is happening. Very scary, but I made it. How about a
discrimination lawsuit against the power company for failure to make proper
accomadations. <grin>
It could be worse, like some who depend on respirators or other
"life-support devices". For me it was a case that I could not use my
computer/reading machine or my cassette player, so I was unable to read or
to write or get to my data base for telephone numbers or schedule data.
So. cal is not a good place to be these days. Never a dull moment these
days. I am looking into alternate energy sources - solar - fuel cells -
wind generators and the old standby, motor generators.
One of the folks from the department of energy said on the news tonight
that the rest of the country can look forward to the same problems. The
"real sad part" is it is all a "manufactured crisis" by the power companies
for more money and to show everyone who is in control of the "real power".
The biggest scam in world history.
Pete
