Hi
 >
I have an HP Scanjet 5370c which works fine on both win98SE and winME, it
has the added function of being able to scan negatives and slides. I just
did the standard install for usb and away they went...
However if I have been using lots of heavy duty programmes like photoshop,
dreamweaver netscape etc then it can freeze if I dont do a clean boot
first, this is obviously a software conflict or memory problem, so I just
  live with it.
Your problem could be a conflict with other software on your system.
  hope this helps
