This website gives a brief description and also a Real video of the
oomingamak (musk ox), a "prehistoric remnant of the last Great Ice Age",
whose wool is eight times warmer than sheep's wool yet lighter than the
finest cashmere. I came upon this due to my interest in knitting and fiber,
trying to find raw material (wool). http://www.muskoxfarm.org/

As I understand, oomingmak may be hunted on Nunivak Island (Alaska) for its
meat and fur, if you have the proper permits.

Inuit women of Unalakleet Island create gloves, caps and the like from the
oomingmak's downy wool (qiviut) to earn income for fuel, hunting supplies
and clothing without having to abandon their traditional way of life. If
you're interested to see their merchandise: http://www.qiviut.com/

Stacie
