I guess authentic politics makes for authentically strange bedfellows.

As far as cuckoo clocks are concerned, I can tell you that when I was a
yout', we asked my aunt to bring us a cuckoo clock from Germany when she came
to visit.  She brought one, only it turned out to have been made of particle
board, and I can tell you I didn't think it was very authentic.  Even though
it was a cuckoo clock, was from Germany, and kept time.
