About breast cancer and fiber...this may be a stretch, but it seems to
me that a lot of modern dieases, hypertension, adult onset diabetes,
cancer, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, obesity,
all may be related to the detrimental effects of too much insulin.  If
you eat more fiber, you're eating lower glycemic index foods.  Lower GI=
lower insulin=> healthier diet=> less disease.  In other words, it's the
metabolic effect of the fiber, not any direct effect in the colon that
helps in preventing cancer.  That explains why high fiber diets are good
not only in preventing colon CA, but other CA's as well.
