I'm sure there will be Bobby. The surgeries don't cure
CP but do reduce the spasticity by a significant
amount. It will enable the kids to learn those proper
movements easier. I know SDR only works for properly
selected canidates( the kid has to use muscle strength
and not tone to move to qualify for the surgery).Alex
has never used any type of medication to reduce
spasticity. He still gets tighter when he goes through
a growth period but he moves with more ease now than I
ever thought possible. You have to remember he was
almost 2 1/2 yrs old before he could gets his arms to
work enough to give a hug without someone placing his
arms first. He would never be participating and
learning as well as he is now without that increase in
independant seating balance that he has.All of this
has to be a good thing in his future.
