NO NO NO NO, Jen you are NOT being ungrateful. Your parents were
thoughtless and stupid. Mine were/are the same. It is only in the
last year or so that I have lived in a place that has a handrail in
the shower and by the toilet, such simple things and they have made
SUCH a difference, my parents NEVER adapted anything to my needs, and
the occasional times I did have assistive equipment of any kind
(typewriter, three wheeled large tricycle) they made me let my brother
and sister have a go on them so they wouldn't feel left out, or like I
was getting special treatment - I never got to use the typewriter, and
the only photo that has the tricycle in it shows my MOTHER sitting on
it. I often wonder if I had a disability that required a catheter or
something like that, would my family wanted to all use it before me!!!

Could write more on this (probably will) but it is dinnertime.

You are not being ungrateful, Jennifer.

I didn't realize certain things until I got married to an understanding and

bought a 2 story home with stairs. They never made ramps or any adaptions ,
my chair had to stay in the garage. They never got a van with a lift..so I
was often not able to go to certain places..When I was 12 I saved up
allowance to buy myself a shower chair because I kept falling..
    I don't know..maybe im being ungrateful???
