THIRD ANNUAL CELEBRATE MADISON! FESTIVAL SET FOR MAY
11, 2002

Exciting live entertainment, delicious ethnic food,
fun arts and crafts workshops, and informative
community agency booths are among the things that will
be found at the third annual Celebrate Madison!
Festival.  The event is scheduled for Saturday, May
11, 2002, 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the 100 and 200
blocks of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between the
Capitol and the Monona Terrace Community and
Convention Center.  The Celebrate Madison! Festival is
free and has activities and entertainment for the
whole family.

A variety of exiting and wonderful live entertainment
is lined up for the Celebrate Madison! Festival.
Festival-goers will enjoy some of MadisonÆs best local
performing arts talents, including:  La Vaina, Que
Flavor, Sadira & the Riad Dance Co., Cheb Moez,
Fountain of Life Choir, Goongoo Peas, Zaibas, Kweku
Ananse & the Sweet Vibrations, Yid Vicious, Lion Dance
from the Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association, Italian
Students Choir, Keltori, Navan, and Friends, Narodno
and Balkan Friends, Last Gaspe, Chris an Ann Plata,
Tony Castenada Latin Jazz, and nationally renowned
flutist Al Jewer.

Children will have plenty of opportunities for fun
hands-on activities.  Youngsters can try their hand at
origami art and Native American dolls and jewelry
making.  They can play music with African drum band
Timeless Voices.  Chinese brush painting, calligraphy,
and paper cutting will be available from the Chinese
Fine Art Association.  Kids can also learn to craft
kites, do Tai Chi animal frolic, make African frames,
and sculpt wood.

Along with this great array of entertainment and
activities, there will also be a plethora of food
booths showcasing food from around the world.  This
yearÆs food vendors include:  Brat Und Brau, Buckhorn
Kettle Korn, Buraka, EmmaÆs EmpanadaÆs, Famous DaveÆs
BBQ, FazoliÆs, Funnel Cakes, Etc., Jamerica
Restaurant, Jamies Cookie Company, Old Chicago, Sons
of Norway, and Vals Cookout Express.  Taste a
multitude of dishes from various cultures and expand
your eating horizons.

The Celebrate Madison! Festival is not only fun and
entertaining, but also informative.  There will be
many informational booths staffed by various Madison
community agencies.  These booths will have
information regarding upcoming events and festivals,
supportive resources available in Madison, and
information aimed to raise cultural awareness.

The Celebrate Madison! Festival was made possible by
the support of many sponsors.  This yearÆs sponsors
are:  UW-Madison, Charter Communications, NBC News 15,
Datex-Ohmeda, WKOW Channel 27, McDonalds, WB-14, City
of Madison, Dane County Kids, Midland Builders,
