My reply from Valrhona was completely different when we
contacted them in August.  My husband, who is our canary,
has eaten it without problems.

I received the following email yesterday 8/30/01 from
Valrhona.  They make high quality chocolates, and many
chocoaltes for baking.

"Dear Sir or Madam:

Thank you for your interest in Valrhona Chocolates.

Regarding your question, none of our chocolates contain any
traces of wheat, rye, barley or oats.

Thank you for you business.

Sincerely,

Valrhona USA"
