Hi Listmates,
I'd appreciate insights and advice into the possible association
between CD and other possible causes of unremitting runs:
Background: positive antibodies detected October 2000, endoscopy
confirmed CD Feb 2001, went GF immediately. I've been GF for 6
months, and extremely careful the past 3 months. Anitbody levels fell
by approximately half after first 3 months, will be re-testing again
shortly.
When the bloodwork was done in October 2000, I was having no
digestive problems at all, it was done to track down possible causes
of osteopenia.
In December 2000, I had what I thought was an acute case of
intestinal flu, severe stomach cramps followed by the runs for
several days. The pain disappeared in a few hours, the runs have
persisted on and off for 10 months. Last week I had a repeat of the
severe stomach cramps only worse, and runs got worse again.
Does anyone have any insights or experience with :
1) Parasites exacerbating CD symptoms?
2) Irritable bowel syndrome, is it common when there's been CD
intestinal damage?
3) Is it common for diarrhea to persist for many months after being
carefully GF?
4)Other causes, or other insights or advice?
Thanks, will summarize.
