I just discovered something. My neighborhood Chinese restaurant has
individual packets of gf soy sauce! They have been preparing my food
without soy sauce because I *assumed* their jug soy sauce contained wheat.
They toss the packets in for my husband and I discovered the packets don't
contain gluten.

The brand is Double Hi Brand, Wing Nien Co, 30560 San Antonia St, Hayward,
CA 94544. 1-510-487-8877; ask for Linda. Ingreds: water, salt,
hydrolyzed soy protein, molasses, carmel color and sodium benzoate. A phone
call confirmed the packets are gluten free and their jug soy sauce is also
gf.

But, a small (big?) problem here. The packets come in a package of 500 and
the soy sauce is sold in gallon or 5 gallon jugs only. I didn't ask where!

I'll be checking with my Chinese restaurant in the next few days to see if
they use Double Hi for their jug soy sauce and also to see if they will sell
me a couple dozen packets. Chinese and Japanese would sure taste better if
they could cook with gf soy sauce rather than me having to add it later.

In my car food box, I carry soy sauce in 2 small plastic bottles because
when I go to an Asian restaurant, they use a lot of soy sauce. Both bottles
have labels stating: "Diane's gluten free soy sauce" so there is no mix up
in the kitchen.

Good luck
Diane
PS The Chinese restaurant is Wah Luck in Kirkland WA.
