This will be my only public post on this, as some folks on the list don't
enjoy dog stories much. Your instincts - and his - are correct. Commercial
dog food is terrible. Dogs should eat according to their own set of Paleo
priciples: no grain, lots of raw meat AND bones, some raw pureed
vegetables, fish and fish oil supplements, no dairy except perhaps yogurt.
Cats are obligate carnivores, and need meat and bones with no grains at
all. There are many ways to implement the diet, to your needs, your dog's
health profile, as well as your time and budget. Folks feeding this way
call it BARF, for biologically appropriate raw foods. Find hundreds of us,
with lots of advice, at [log in to unmask]

Incidentally, the BARF big kahuna, Dr. Ian Billinghurst, is IN Australia,
so you are home! Good luck,

ginny and Tomo
