regarding petroleum products:
Products containing beeswax or pure lanolin (Lansinoh) seal moisture in as
well as petroleum without toxic side effects. Lansinoh is so pure that many
people with wool allergies can use it. It is marketed for breastfeeding
women to use on sore nipples, it is so safe and pure that it does not have
to be removed prior to nursing. Any drug store can special order Lansinoh,
just ask at the drug counter. Burt's Bees makes a good lip salve which I
believe is lanolin-free. http://www.burtsbees.com

Mary, regarding cracked lips:
Ben gets chapped, cracked lips when he eats eggs or nuts, also pineapple,
sesame, and a few other things. If I eat too many almonds, I also get
chapped/cracked lips. I also have problems when I have too much of the amino
acid that is in bananas (L. Arginine?) Maybe it's in almonds too? Anyway,
maybe Larry has some other food sensitivities?

By the way, when I eat foods that cause chapped lips, I notice the same sort
of irritation *elsewhere* if you know what I mean.

Stacie
