Golly - what a lot of stuff!
Evolved on the coast, on the savannah? This is much too anal.
Humans are clever buggers, and will figure out how to survive anywhere. Take
my native paleo Californians, again. The Mojave lived in (guess where)? the
Mojave desert, and lived very handily on grubs, insects, mesquite berries,
small rodents, etc.etc. They were described by the Spanish chroniclers as
standing six feet tall, robust and good looking people. The Chumash, on the
other hand, lived on the coast at Santa Barbara, where they caught all kinds
of fish, using traps, nets, and hooks made from abalone shell.
Not relevant, you say? Humans are immensely adaptable, and that is the reason
for their success. With superior brainpower, you can exploit any environment,
and they clearly did so.
