Yep, I do feed flax seed, but not to the breeders, just the regular layers.
It reduces the cholesterol somewhat (less than most claims on expen$ive eggs
but enough to make a difference), and cholesterol is what nourishes the
growing chicklets in the shell.

The girls like flax seed, but not as much as they like the less-nutritious
scratch (cracked wheat and corn). Scratch is like white bread in terms of
nutrition... Oh well, at least they love their veggies!

I grind flax seed to mix with the veggie meals for the dogs also, as it
helps to balance the omega-6s in the chicken that is the mainstay of their
diet.

Sometimes I think that despite my best efforts, everyone who lives here (and
wears fur or feathers) is more paleo than I am! (And I eat lots of meat,
sometimes raw, and try to avoid processed food...)
