Actually, I just searched through my old email and I was remembering 2
different incidents together. The "really good" non-dairy ice cream I
reacted to was WholeSoy Glace, which at the time back in mid-2001, was DE.
I think the problem I had with Silk was with their chocolate soy milk
right after Publix (local supermarket chain) started carrying it. Perhaps
their cleaning/testing procedures have improved since then.

If that's really true, it may be worth trying again. I may email them and
ask how long they've had that cleaning / testing policy.
