One more late roll call entry...
I'm Laurie, mom to Alyssa, 5yo, with a severe allergy to all dairy products
(as well as eggs, peanuts, walnuts and some other tree nuts). She has not outgrown
any of her allergies (discovered as solid foods were started 6-8mo of age). Her
symptoms are somewhat reduced from when she was an infant, but they are still
immediate and severe (but not life-threatening).
The distinction between lactose-intolerance and dairy allergy is a critical
one, even on this list, as the soy-cheese discussion has shown. I appreciate
hints, recipes and brands, but realize that I always need to check again, both
for the lactose/protein question, and Alyssa's other allergens...
