Indeed. My favorite childhood misunderstanding is related to my hearing
disability.
I remember as a child being totally confused by "The Wizard of Oz" movie. A
lot of it didn't make sense, and those flying monkeys were scary as hell,
but what most perplexed me was why Cowardly Lion wanted carrots. I always
had it figured, from watching Bugs Bunny, that _rabbits_ wanted carrots. It
wasn't until later that I got myself straightened around with the phrase
that had me all mixed up (you need to hear this in your head to make it
work: spit out that final epithet):
"Whadduz 'e got that I haven't got?......
"Carrots!"
