We gave our babies a few spoonfuls of yogurt every day to help milk
digestion. It is also supposed to improve food digestion. Perhaps that
is the reason, but our kids were never colicy and had few stomach
troubles as babies.
The natural milk digesting bacteria is called bifidus, you can find
bifidus yogurts in the supermarket. Babies get it because it lives
naturally on nipples, so they get a fresh dose every time they nurse.
I wonder if that isn't one of the reasons nursing is healthier. I
(ahem) try to get regular bifidus supplements too...
