The alkaline-acid component of blood must come from the function of the
kidneys. My father in law has kidney disease, and must maintain a careful
diet avoiding acids. They test his blood ph weekly, and also prescribe that
he eat sodium bicarbonate tablets if his blood results are too acid on a
given day.
