I also went through similar.  Thought I was going bald.  My doctor checked
everything like thyroid and other hormone levels, everything 'normal'.  My
hair loss continued for around 6 months, but after around four months, I
started to notice a stubby new growth when I gently rubbed my scalp.

Sure enough, at about the 6 month mark, I had all these new, short hairs
sticking straight up on the top of my head!  I never was so glad to see
those funny looking hairs!

Take my personal experience for what it's worth.....!  ;-)
