Finally, someone catches a clue! Notice how carbs are mentioned in the
first paragraph followed by an emphasis on excess fat in the rest of the
story. They also mention plant protien but nothing about (gasp!) animal
protein. While I know Pima Indians ate less meat than, say, the Lakota
Indians of the plains, the DID eat meat. Why is it politically incorrect to
mention this? Charles - do you know if the Pima diet was "rich in grains"
as they claim in the story?
You watch: any extended research on the Indians' native diet/s will be on
the Pima tribe. Why? A few studies have been done already and what they
ate is closer in macronutrient ratios to the USDA food pyramid than the diet
of Plains Indians, who ate 75% animal food and just 25% plant food (even
less in some cases). The Pima diet is politically correct; the Plains
Indian diet is not.
