Great questions and I am looking forward to others' answers. For me, I can't
be low carb for very long. I get too much of a craving for carbs and it is
unpleasent. I did go low carb for about one year but I don't want to do it
again. I try to get carbs during the day from fruit or veggies so that I
don't develop a craving and hunger that leads me to "cheat."
I eat meat for breakfast, a large steak or 4 eggs. I snack on fruit
sometimes and it does not seem to slow me down or bother me in any way. I
don't eat lentils or beans at all so I can't comment on those. I don't think
dairy is a good idea except in very limited quantities (a slice of cheese
now and then on a hamburger for example.) I don't feel more energy from
satfat than from anything else, it seems.
In total, I eat three good protein meals daily. Nuts seem to dry my skin so
I am staying away from those.
