Hello List,
I currently have a Dell PC with a 21 inch monitor and Windows XP Home
Edition. I think it's a Pentium 4, but I don't think that matters relative
to this particular problem. I also have an Aladdin Genie for optical
magnification.
I use to use the same Genie unit I have now, here at home, at work with
another PC, where the problem I'm having now did not occur, so I suspect
that this has something to do with the Windows XP I'm using now. Previously
at work I was on Windows NT.
When the PC is unused for a period of minutes, it seems to enter a type of
sleep mode. Instead of just running a screen saver, what happens is that
the monitor seems to no longer get the PC signal. As a result, the signal I
do get is from the Genie. Normally, this does not present a problem,
because when I move the mouse again the PC comes back through the monitor.
Although two problems do result which I'd like to solve.
ONE: If the static image from the sitting Genie is channeled through the
monitor automatically during sleep mode, it overrides any screen savers and
eventually might leave a permanent image on the monitor.
TWO: I suspect it is the PC's sleep mode that also interferes with my
ability to select the genie whenever I want to. The normal footswitch does
not seem to always work.
Any suggestions or additional questions are warmly welcomed.
Thank you in advance.
