A clarification on theVoice note and that family of "windows CE" products.
they do not provide any access to the operating system, and my contacts with
the company have no idea when and if they will do so. These are merely an
upgrade of the older Keynote dos producs piggybacked on the CE platform.
they don't do anything you couldn't do in dos!
There is no capability to use any facilities outside the keynote custom software
You can not run other windoes CE programs on these devices.
Freedom Scientific claims they are working on a Palm screen
reader system, and here at Smith-Kettlewell rehab engineering
center we are looking seriously at a similar idea using either
the palm or Handspring visor.
I also know of a few folks, who don't want to be
publicized right now, who are working on Linux portable systems.
When it hapens you'll hear about it!
