I suggest you check the following.
Try and ping the PC's from each other PC1 ping PC2 & PC2 ping PC1 (from a
DOS prompt type "Ping 192.168.0.1" without the quotes, use the correct IP
address you have set up. If you can ping each PC then the hardware/cables
are OK, try the following.
- Check if both PC's are set to share (under Network Neighbourhood, file &
Print sharing)
- Make sure the Workgroup names on each PC are identical
Sometimes there is a delay after booting before the networked PC are
displayed in Network Neighbourhood. Give it a minute or 2 and press the F5
button to refresh the view to see if the other PC shows up - or try using
the find command from windows explorer (Tools/Find/Computer - enter *.* in
the named field and press enter).
