Demitri,

Is the sound muted? Is there a speaker on the taskbar?

From Windows help, Sound devices, volume adjusting: Tip

If the Show Volume Control On The Taskbar box is checked and your sound
card's volume can be changed using software, a speaker icon appears on the
taskbar. To change the volume, click the icon, and then drag the slider.
