okay, question.
If I understand correctly, the paleo diet restricts or eliminates the
use of grains, dairy, beans (including soy and peanuts), refined sugars,
and artificial foods. In certain versions it eliminates potatoes, and
limits large amounts of carbohydrates in general (though I realize not
all paleo is necessarily low-carb). I've heard versions that eliminate
all nightshades. If we also limit saturated fat, then what does a paleo
diet look like? Must meat be lean to be low in saturated fat? (is
there such a thing as a fatty meat which nevertheless has very little
saturated fat?)
Fat is calories. Fish is great with saturated fat, but terrible in
providing sufficient calories. What about tubers? In other words,
instead of looking at what can't be eaten, how about a list of "ideal"
or "very good" paleo type foods, and a look at what a weekly diet might
look like. Is there agreement on what this might look like? If not,
what parts of this are most agreed upon?
