I am past finding it strange. I'm not as fat as I was pre-paleo,
so that's good. But knowledgeable doesn't take the weight off.
Despite the failure of lab tests to find anything, I still
suspect a thyroid problem. If that is correct that it is
blindingly clear that this kind of diet and exercise (weight
training, mostly) do *not* correct it.
I can push my body fat down to 15%, using a meat-and-berries
approach that also keeps my calories down. To go below that, I
have to get really hungry and stay there. On "relaxed" paleo
(i.e., eating my fill of paleo foods) my body fat stays at around
18-20%. This is with exercise. Without it, body fat goes up
further. On SAD and without exercise, it's about 30-32%.
On a politally correct lowfat diet with plenty of tofu, I can get
my cholesterol down to 225, but HDL drops too, and triglycerides
tend to rise.
I have no explanation.
