The way I read this post is: Given the lifestyle and diet differences
between paleo and now, or even recent Native American H/G lifestyle and now,
the only thing which is prolonging the standard American's life is modern
medical technology. With medical technology, we can live much longer than
the SAD can sustain us. Most Americans don't care whether their health is
improved, so long as they can "control" their symptoms. Most Americans don't
even consider improving their health as a real option.

My asthmatic cousin simply does not believe me when I suggest to her that
her asthma just might clear up tremendously if she would stop eating wheat
and dairy. "No, thanks, pass the inhaler." My father who has a hiatus hernia
(which has gone untreated for more than a decade and has now become
inoperable) doesn't believe that vegetables should be eaten (except those
standard American "veggies", pork & beans and canned corn). "Pass the Tums."
My overweight and pimply-faced 20-year old sister who has severe
dysmennorhea begged me to let her take my bread machine off her hands as a
Christmas gift, despite my plain and simple statement that "bread really
does make you fat, and it gives you bad cramps". She goes to the store once
a month for Midol and zit cream. My mother chronically has the same eczema
that I get when I eat wheat, dairy, soy or chocolate. "It's a skin rash.
Diet has nothing to do with it." Triamcinolone acetonide cream resides on
her vanity shelf, she applies daily under her makeup. Ben's mother has
chronic fatigue syndrome, she has started eating paleo foods along with her
half a loaf of bread a week and frequent ice cream binges (lowfat) and is
complaining now that paleo diet makes you fat, she has gained 5 lbs. "I hate
having grease in my kitchen, it's disgusting."

That's how America is. That's why you can become rich in this country if you
learn how to cut cancer out of people.
